Supervision from IoPT

Discover using IoPT your own subconscious themes in a group to work trauma-informed in your own field.

To be able to guide your client with integrity, you must regularly reflect yourself. You are the instrument and the method. Which means that you can only help others to the growth that you yourself have experienced. How do you prevent your development, and therefore that of your clients, from stagnating?
This supervision is where you can go with your questions as a therapist, coach, social worker or another professional counselor.

Supervision guarantees your professionalism, is your compass in ethical dilemmas and ensures further personal growth.

Do you want to learn about your (window of) consciousness and awareness:

  1. You are very flexible with appointments, you work hard with your client and, frankly, you get tired of it.
  2. Some clients can really trigger you and you find certain people and themes difficult. You can’t get rid of thoughts about a case.
  3. You don’t always achieve the desired therapeutic goal despite doing the cognitive and emotional work.
  4. You can’t stay present if your client is experiencing intense fear, sadness or anger, or to “keep it safe” you don’t dare to lovingly “go ahead”.
  5. You are looking for a compass about boundaries and ethical dilemmas.
  6. You are over-asked when to immediately see through stubborn relationship patterns and break them without being sucked into the dynamics.

What would it be like if:

  1. You can limit (yourself) so that you can also say yes wholeheartedly.
  2. You first enter into the relationship with yourself completely so that you can be fully there for the other person; so that you no longer fad-away or close your heart.
  3. Your client feels really understood, seen and heard on a soul level.
  4. You can offer a safe bed to break through recurring problems because you have done the work yourself in your own processes.
  5. You have a clear understanding of your own and societal norms and you can experience what the client’s identity and autonomy are really about.
  6. You quickly make complex dynamics visible and you teach clients healthy interactions.

What do we do with supervision from IoPT*?

During the supervision we go into depth; not “talking about” feelings but really experiencing them. That is why we work with IoPT* self-resonances. With this you look in the mirror, so to speak, and step by step you discover patterns that you formed (perhaps early on) in your life because they were helpful then, but now hinder you. You will learn about early childhood attachment trauma.

You work on your own goals and at the end you reflect on what the year has brought you. At the beginning of each meeting, each participant names one learning question that has arisen in their own situation in their practice. This can be a question about one of your own cases as well as a personal question.

*) IoPT stands for Identity oriented Psychotrauma Therapy/Theory. Which means it’s about promoting your identity and autonomy. The better you know yourself, the better you become in your own methodology.
